September 21st

.
.
I sat myself on the rocks in the best possible position to catch every single color and ripple in the ocean as the sun came up.
.
.
This day would have been my Granny’s 100th Birthday. I was having a silent celebration of who she was and the impact she had on this Earth. Knowing that a truly incredible role model was born 100 years ago and in all the gratitude for that.
.
.
And sitting in the silence of the sadness that we had been preparing for my Nanny to leave this Earth walk. I had a powerful feeling that this would be her last day. And it was. She passed on my Granny’s 100th birthday. .
.
I contemplated our comings and goings in this world and the feelings rushed over me. Sitting in awe of the sunrise and the way she rises every morning. The consistency in that reminded me of unconditional love. I thought about the power in my maternal lineage and the possibilities of our souls purpose once we leave this planet and this human experience. I cried. But it wasn’t a sad cry. It was really just an expression of the power of that moment. It felt like I was the smallest moving particle of energy to something so much bigger. God. I was in so much gratitude. It was a moment I’ll never forget. .
.
These pictures were taken in that moment, by someone I had never met. The stranger came over to me as I was leaving the beach and introduced himself as a photographer. He didn’t know the depth of this moment for me. He didn’t see or hear me crying. He intuitively knew that it was something worth shooting. I knew that day, that God was going to put me wherever I needed to be, always. And then she did. I knew before I met that photographer I’d always remember this sunrise on the beach. But this gift he gave me will forever hold such meaning in my heart. The day my last living grandparent passed away. The day my Granny would have been 100. The day I was moved so deeply by life and it’s not so serendipitous moments. .
