A Dream is a Soft Place to Land

The thing I appreciate most about yoga, aside from the philosophy, is what I’ve learned on the mat and how it all translates to everyday life. In yoga, part of the beauty in the asana practice is believing, envisioning, dreaming that one day your body will achieve what it needs to maintain a variation of the pose. This is one of the first times I’ve practiced what it’s like standing on my hands. In looking at my body here, I see the mechanics need some work. My shoulders could be more open, my tailbone more tucked. But that’s not the point. It’s the process of working the pose that takes you where you need to be. It’s the process that keeps us in our dreams both physically and emotionally. It’s in the process (or the difficulties of the pose) that we grow, that we can make our greatest offerings to Source, that we can learn to surrender.
That’s yoga. The emptying of oneself of all the microcosms of life; doubts, frustrations and fears and then surrendering to the Divine all over again. Trusting that your dreams are possible. Trusting that something beautiful awaits you.
What are your dreams? A business goal? A personal goal? A marathon? Weight loss? A book? Recovery? I watch all of you beautiful souls on your journeys and I admire you. A dream needs believing.
I believe in us.
